Territory Proud launches Territory Grown

Territory Grown

Territory Proud is continuing it’s strong tradition of promoting and helping support Territory enterprise with a new initiative – Territory Grown.

As a result of growth in Territory Proud members from within the primary producing sector, an opportunity has arisen to focus on highlighting the Territory as a key source of quality, home grown Territory produce.

The Northern Territory is renowned around the world for its quality of cattle, seafood, and tropical fruit. But there is also considerable growing demand for niche products that are unique to the Territory and in high demand in premium markets on the eastern seaboard and in Asia’s growing middle class.

Our local bush tucker is in demand by epicureans around Australia and overseas, and our crocodile products are already being exported to Europe’s elite fashion houses. “As a result of the growth in demand for our natural products, coupled with Territory Proud’s strong and enduring relationships with Territory businesses of all stripes, we are well placed to help this sector of the industry reach their full potential”, said Chairman of Territory Proud Geoff Goodrich.

“The Territory has an incredible wealth of natural resources, with a renowned reputation for innovation, resilience and dedication to achieving their goals. And of course as a brand, Territory Grown will also apply helping develop our home grown talent who succeed on a wider stage in sport, music, art and other creative endeavours”, said Mr Goodrich. “Despite the economic challenges that the Territory is currently facing, it is more important than ever to capitalize on our natural and human resources and realize the true value that this industry can offer to both Territorians and the world at large.

“Territory Grown will work with the business community, government and the community sector to create opportunities to showcase the Territory’s home grown sector to the Territory and beyond. Territory Proud is very keen to hear from primary producers, farmers, growers, and creatives across the Territory to be a part of this exciting new initiative.

In 2017 two great Territory organisations- Territory Proud and Territory Made, are joining forces.

Following a productive and successful co working relationship as part of the 2016 Tropical Garden Fair, Territory Proud and Territory Made have decided to merge. CEO and Founder of Territory Made, Sarah Price will continue to work with both Territory Made and Territory Proud in her role as Marketing and Events Manager for Territory Proud. “Promoting and helping develop creative Territory businesses has long been a passion of mine”, said Ms Price. “By partnering with Territory Proud, I have the privilege to work with an organisation that equally shares my passion for growing and supporting Territory businesses and Territory Made can continue to flourish.

“Territory Proud was created in 2003 to help promote Territory business as a first choice option for consumers, businesses and government when making their purchase decisions with the motto “Working Together, Helping Territorians Achieve their Goals”. Today Territory Proud is a community of over 250 businesses and its membership is continuing to grow.

As well as promoting Territory business, Territory Proud has been instrumental in helping a number of young Territorians reach their full potential. Territory Made was founded in 2015 as a monthly market event in the George Brown Botanic Gardens, also hosting events in 2016 in Palmerston. Since then, it has grown from strength to strength becoming a mainstay in the Territory’s dry season designer market calendar for both locals and visitors to the Territory alike.

On September 2nd and 3rd this year the combined might of these two great organisations in all the their glory with the inaugural Tropical Territory “A celebration of our lifestyle” to be held in the George Brown Darwin Botanical Gardens. Together with community organisations, this free event will be a celebration of all that makes the Territory truly unique with a range of displays, activities, competitions, talks and entertainment for the whole family. For chairman of Territory Proud Geoff Goodrich, the partnership made perfect sense. “Territory Made and Territory Proud are a natural fit. We share a passion, a vision and have much to gain by working together.

The future looks bright and I’m looking forward to working with Sarah to help Territorians achieve their goals”, said Mr Goodrich.

Territory Proud joins with No More Campaign

Territory Proud is pleased to have joined forces with the NO More Family Violence campaign that has been lead by local identiry Charlie King since 2009.

Territory Proud has produced with NO more large core flute poster for Territory Proud businesses to show their support of this worthy cause.

Territory Proud strong showing at Tropical Garden Fair

The inaugural Tropical Garden Fair was held in the George Brown Botanical Gardens on the weekend of August 14 and 15. This event was a replacement for the Tropical Garden Spectacular which was normmally held in June but did not happen this year.

The TGF was run by the Parks & Wildlife Department which manages the Botanical Gardens and was supported by Territory Made traders and members of Territory Proud Inc and other territory businesses and organisations. Despite much competition on the weekend it was well supported by the Darwin community especially on the Sunday.

Territory Proud members had their own area and a number of members were also spread throughout the rest of the displays. The Territory Proud area had a range of business and was anchored by The One Mile Brewery and Saffrron Restaurant with a chill our area adjacent to the fountain in the shade with furniture provided by Kokoda Industries (part of HPA - Heping People Achieve) and Fusion Exhibition & Hire.

Territory Proud has committed to participate again next year and we look forward to more members joining us. below are some photos of the event.
